About the IAEG

The Government agencies making up the membership of the Inter-Agency Events Group are:

  • New Zealand Trade and Enterprise seeks to improve the international competitiveness, profitability and capability of New Zealand businesses.
  • Tourism New Zealand develops, implements and promotes strategies for tourism, and advises the government and New Zealand Tourism industry on matters relating to those strategies.
  • Creative New Zealand encourages, promotes and supports arts in New Zealand for the benefit of all New Zealanders.
  • Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) works to get New Zealanders moving, from supporting elite athletes to getting out into local communities and encouraging people to get active.
  • Ministry for Culture and Heritage supports government participation in the cultural sector and assists in providing and managing cultural resources for the benefit of all New Zealanders.
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade seeks to influence the international environment to promote New Zealand interests and values, and contribute to a stable, peaceful and prosperous world.
  • Ministry of Economic Development fosters economic development and prosperity for all New Zealanders.
  • Ministry of Tourism provides advice and information to the government and the Minister of Tourism, manages and monitors government investment in tourism and undertakes tourism research.
  • Te Puni Kokiri (Ministry of Maori Development) works to promote higher achievement by Māori, provide high quality advice to Government and accelerate Māori development.

Something to think about…

The funds allocated by the IAEG are additional to the funding support members making up the IAEG may have available for events that further their goals.

Even if you are not successful in securing support from the Major Events Development Fund, your event may meet the separate funding criteria of the individual agency members.
